WHAT ARE MULTA AND AMMENDA?

These are monetary penalties issued by Italian authorities for violations of laws or regulations:

    • Multa: Imposed for serious offenses (delitti).

    • Ammenda: applied for minor infractions (contravvenzioni).

Your Options When Receiving a Fine
    1. Pay the fine (with or without discount)

      – 30% discount: pay within 5 days of notification.
Full amount: pay within 60 days.

    2. Appeal to the justice of the Peace (Giudice di Pace)

    3. Deadline: 30 days from notice.

    4. Ideal for most cases, as it allows evidence submission (documents, witness testimony).

  1. Appeal to the Prefect (Prefetto)

    • Deadline: 60 days from notice.

    • Less common; typically used for specific administrative disputes.

How we assist you
  • Initial assessment: we review the fine’s validity, including proper notification and legal grounds.

  • Strategic guidance: advise whether to pay, negotiate, or appeal—based on success likelihood.

  • Appeal representation: handle filings with the Giudice di Pace or Prefetto, including evidence preparation.

  • Outcome management: if the appeal succeeds, the fine is canceled (fully or partially). If rejected, we explore further options.
